Mathew Knowles teaches Entertainment Industry course at Texas Southern University
(Houston, TX – August 26, 2010) –Entertainment industry leader, Mathew Knowles will teach an undergraduate level course this fall entitled “The Entertainment Industry” through the Texas Southern University School of Communication in Houston. The class is on the TSU campus each Monday 4:00pm-6:30pm.
Mr. Knowles graduated from fellow HBCU Fisk University in 1974 with dual degrees – Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was bestowed with the honor of Doctor of Humane Letters from his alma mater at the 2008 Commencement Ceremony.
Knowles’ professorship at TSU for the fall semester 2010 marks the second year in row on the campus in Houston. TSU offers an interdisciplinary major, Entertainment and the Recording Industry, and the campus houses a state-of-the-art recording studio at the KTSU Building.

Music World Gospel (MWG), the faith-based and inspirational label under MWE is setting new standards in the industry. Renowned minister and artist, Juanita Bynum has had the #1 song on the Christian Music Trade Association’s (CMTA) Singles/Tracks Chart for 9 consecutive weeks. “Soul Cry” is her debut single with MWG.
Brian Courtney Wilson has become gospel music’s contemporary break-through artists of 2010. A Gospel Music Association Dove Award nominee, his debut CD, JUST LOVE, entered at #2 on the Billboard Top Gospel Album chart and #6 on Billboard’s Top Christian Album chart. The CD has remained at #1 on Christian Music Trade Association’s (CMTA) Inspirational Album chart for over 40 weeks. Remarkably, since its release in June 2009, the CD also has held steady in the Top 15 on the Billboard Top Gospel Album chart for over 62 weeks.
MWG’s Trin-i-tee 5:7 was the first gospel group to have a certified platinum album and the group has become the best selling gospel trio in history. Micah Stampley, acclaimed gospel singer, songwriter, producer and Stellar Award nominee, will be releasing new songs through MWG.
Along with his success as a top-level manager, Knowles has negotiated mega endorsement partnerships for his clients including Samsung to announce the Beyoncé Special Edition B'Phone, American Express, Nintendo, Giorgio Armani Diamonds, L'Oreal, DirecTV, Verizon, Samantha Thavasa and Pepsi, McDonald's, Vaseline and Soft Sheen. Business endeavors also involve the world of sports where Knowles is part owner of the WNBA Chicago Sky franchise.
Philanthropy is an important part of the fabric of Mathew Knowles life. Along with Tina Knowles, Beyoncé and Solange, he established the “Survivor Foundation,” "The Knowles Rowland Center" and the "Knowles Temenos House” (St. Johns) in downtown Houston. The concert tours have played an important part to help combat world hunger with the launch of The Beyoncé Experience Tour Food Drive, “I AM…” Tour Food Drive and the Beyoncé Experience Global Food Drive. In addition to these important projects Mr. Knowles donates to numerous non-profit organizations throughout the world.
